The Government has simplified the process by which Charities can claim the tax back on donations made by taxpayers. Put simply, if you pay income tax or capital gains tax we can claim approximately 28p on every £1 you give - at current rates. This applies to one off, regular or periodic donations.

All that you need to do is make a Gift Aid Declaration. It really is that simple. If at any time your circumstances change or you wish to cancel the arrangement then written instruction to us will be acted upon and acknowledged.

An even more tax advantageous way of giving is known as Payroll Giving. Most large employers operate a system or it is simple for them to make the appropriate arrangements with the Payroll Giving Agency.

When you instruct your employer to deduct a certain amount from your pay each month, it is calculated before tax is paid. However, the Charity receives your donation as though you had paid tax on it - so a £5 donation will cost a standard rate tax payer just £3.90 from their salary. Until 2003, the Government is contributing an extra 10% - so the Charity would actually receive £5.50 for your £3.90! If you pay at 40% then the sums get event better.
