INTRODUCTION

Harlington Hospice Association was set up some years ago to raise funds to build a bedded hospice unit. A large sum of money has been raised, but more is needed before this objective can be achieved. In view of the recognised need for care of the terminally ill in the community. Hospice at Home was introduced in September 1993.

WHAT IS HOSPICE AT HOME ?

HOSPICE AT HOME provides extra care and support to terminally ill patients in their own homes and offers support to relatives and carers. It supplements the services normally provided by the District Nursing Service. Care. both "hands on" and support will be provided by a team of qualified nurses and auxiliary staff who will be supported by the patients' District Nurse. Care can usually be arranged for any period of the day or night, but will require prior arrangement with the Senior Nurse who is managing the service.
