2
years of help
and support
Some people still find it difficult to believe it was 21 years ago that the Harlington Hospice Association was born. And just look at it today!
Securing another 21 years of care, with your help

the needs of future generations. Presently it costs £20,000 a week just to maintain the Harlington Hospice services on which the community has come to rely.
To ensure that we are able to build and develop our hospice services for future generations we now require substantial investment beyond our normal income.
Therefore, we need to make every effort over the coming years to secure an extra £4 million. This will pay for the cost of a bedded unit providing palliative care and a range of new and improved services.
As many people know there is uncertainty about the location of this bedded unit because of the siting of the third Heathrow runway. But have no doubt, this new unit is going to be built.
Over the following pages you will read stories of people and companies who help us in a variety of ways. Some have been supporters from the start; others have come on board recently. But no matter, young or old, they all show they are passionate about supporting their charity.
Fundraising is the lifeblood of the Harlington Hospice Association. And this year we have a full programme of events organised by volunteers and Hospice staff.
But I don’t want you to think it’s all wrapped-up, that there’s nothing more needing to be done. Don’t you believe it!
In the run-up to the formal celebration of our 21st anniversary later this year I want you to think about what more you can do to support your Hospice. However crazy the idea, as long as it’s legal and safe, then go for it!
But whatever you do, just have fun and make sure you tell everyone why you are doing it. And then get them to sponsor you.
And if you’re not up to organizing something yourself and perhaps prefer something a little tamer, why not ask your company to do something for the Hospice, such as a dress down day, fancy dress contest or charity car wash?
In the longer-term I want you to consider the Harlington Hospice when making your will or when next reviewing it. For there is no better fitting and lasting memorial to your kindness and generosity than when expressed in the form of a legacy or bequest.
So please spare a little time to think about what you could do to help Harlington Hospice secure another 21 years of providing care for you, your family and friends at a time when most needed.
Thank you.

Twenty-one years provides an ideal platform from which we can look back and reflect on some of our achievements.
However, more importantly our anniversary provides a major opportunity to look to the future to
