Donor guide

A new donor’s leaflet has been produced which highlights the tax advantages to both donor and Harlington Hospice.

Not many people realise that for every £1 donated the Hospice can obtain a further 28 pence from the taxman.

This is just one of a number of ways in which the Hospice can maximise on the kindness of individuals and corporate donors.

If you would like to discuss how you can ensure that  Harlington Hospice benefits then please contact the Harlington Hospice Fundraising Department.

Copies of this new leaflet are available from any of  our seven charity shops or directly from the Fundraising Dept. on 020 8759 0453

Lymphoedema service

at Harlington Hospice

The Lymphoedema Service provided by  Harlington Hospice goes from strength-to-strength.  And that’s not just us blowing our own trumpet, for it’s our clients who are saying it.

‘Kathy’ writes that after being told she will need surgery: “…no-one mentioned lymphoedema afterwards and what it would entail.”  Kathy went on to say: “Then I was invited to the Harlington Hospice to talk and share the burden.  In an oasis of kindness the information received on lymphoedema helped me to understand and manage the problem with the help of lymphoedema drainage relief.”

‘Marian’ said: “I was very pleased when the Lymphoedema Support group started in September last year under the guidance of Maria.

“Just to talk with other people with lymphoedema, whether of the arms or legs, is great and reminds me that I am not alone!”

‘Pam’ said; “I was somewhat apprehensive on my first appointment but Adrian , the Head of Clinic, made me feel at ease straight away. And arranged for me to have a course of massage treatments which I have found to be very beneficial.”

‘Rita’ adds: “I was referred to the Lymphoedema Clinic about 18 months ago, and I was feeling very apprehensive. Since then Anne O’Donnell and Mary-Anne Herbert who have since joined the  ‘Adrian Team’ are a credit to Adrian’s leadership and I want to say a big ‘thank you’ to them all for their TLC and, of course, their expertise in their field. Because of them the Clinic has now become a part of my way of life upon which I gratefully depend,” writes Rita.

Sparkling dishes!

Sparkling dishes are assured in the Harlington Hospice Day Care Centre following the generous donation of £1,000 for a new dishwashing machine.  The money came from the Cranford Cross Over Fifty Club.  “Although you can easily buy five machines for that sort of money”, said Jo-Anne Woolf, Hospice Day Care Centre manager, “the one used in the Centre is a high specification model which also sterilises.  This is essential when minimising cross infection from recently hospitalised patients now using the Centre.”

We’re in the money: From left to right, Susie Mitchell, Mary Hopkins, Margaret Brown, Larry Whitchurch-Bennett and Jo-Anne Woolf.
