After a successful public council meeting held on Tuesday evening at the Uxbridge Civic Centre, Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) Board of Trustees, explained how there is “light at the end of the tunnel” as the Charity board and fundraising team reveals a clear and shared vision to pull together to help ensure local people and their families are at the forefront of any future plans for the provision and funding of palliative and end of life care services in the year ahead.

Local councillors, Hillingdon Community Care Group and the Charity were united in their desire to see a rapid restoration of in-patient services. The Trustee Board, having listened to, and engaged with the existing staff team, volunteers, as well as loyal supporters, will be spearheading a robust plan going forward, to ensure MSHC continues to both fund and support much-needed hospice care services for patients and their families at a critical time of need.

At present, the Charity fully funds the Michael Sobell Day Hospice service, based on the Mount Vernon Hospital site, and over the past six months has been working with several organisations and groups, including the East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Hillingdon Commissioning Group and Hillingdon Borough Council on devising a future plan for the delivery of palliative care services in Hillingdon, which would see the Charity once again leading the way in ensuring hospice care services are easily accessible for those people who need them.

Commenting, Chair of Trustees, Rosalind Williams, said: “We sincerely appreciate all the support shown towards the Charity, particularly over the last few months – your ongoing support and generosity is as always vital. As we head towards 2019, we will continue to put the care of the local community at the heart of all we do.”
