Ruislip-based, Whiteheath Junior School pupils, took part in a school endurance event during the summer (post lockdown1) on hearing that Michael Sobell Hospice Charity’s fundraising income had taken a hit due to COVID-19, raising a whopping £1,000!
Pupils decided to step in and help raise money (while keeping fit) with a special challenge event called ‘Endure’ which took place in early July, with other pupils setting their own family challenges at home which included cycle rides, hikes and runs.
Assistant Headteacher, Kerry Quantrell, commented: “We are really proud of all of our children who worked hard to raise money. Hearing of the struggle of so many local charities was very concerning to us as a school community. We wanted to do what we could to help give some support. Children, both at home and at school had a wonderful time learning skipping and developing their endurance skills in order to take part.”
