About us

Harlington Hospice and our inpatient hospice, Michael Sobell House are here to support people living with serious or terminal illness in the London Borough of Hillingdon and surrounding areas.

We believe that everybody living in our local community should be able to access the care and support they need to be able to live each of their days in their own way, to the fullest.

We support people both in their homes and within our in-patient hospice.

Our expert teams take great care to get to know everyone who comes to us and works closely with them to ensure that their individual needs are met. We encourage each person to set their goals, from early in their illness until their last moments. We also provide care and support for friends and family members throughout the person’s journey and into bereavement

Providing care and support

Harlington Hospice and Michael Sobell Hospice  merged operations in 2023. Merging has allowed us to join up the expertise previously spread between the teams at Harlington Hospice’s and Michael Sobell Hospice.

Merging has enabled us to improve the care provided and the services we can offer.

We take the time to get to know everyone who comes to us. We work with each person to set their own goals for how to live well and the fullest. Our approach is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Instead we take a ‘person centred’ approach’ ensuring that the person’s goals and wishes are understood and adhered to.

Those who come to us are supported to live each of their days in their own way, to the fullest.

Care and bereavement journeys

We are beside each person whilst they are on their journey. We are beside those living with a longterm or incurable illness.

We are also alongside the person’s loved one’s and those who live in our community and going through bereavement.

Our core principles

Our purpose

To support those in our community living with serious or terminal illness to live each of their days in their own way, to the fullest.

Our vision

Where everyone living with serious or terminal illness is treated as an individual and supported to live with their illness in a positive way.

Our values

Collaborative – We’re inclusive and diverse and never overlook the value of others’ views and perspectives in creating more individualised care. We share our own and learn from other’s best practice.

Responsive – We are embedded in our local community and exist to respond to their needs.  We go above and beyond to find the right answers for whoever needs our help.

Thoughtful – We think not only about the most effective medical practice, but also about what is helpful for our patients.

Courageous – We’re there at people’s hardest moments in life and we’re a pillar of strength for them when they need us.

Providing inclusive and equitable care

We are also deeply committed to providing inclusive and equitable care to everyone. And hope to work further with our community in the future to break down any barriers existing around healthcare and accessibility. Take a look at our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement for more information.
