A burst water pipe in an upstairs flat above the Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) shop on Ruislip High Street, has forced it to close until refurbishment work can be undertaken.

It is likely the shop will be closed for several weeks before it can re-open. Commenting on the situation, spokesperson for MSHC, Victoria Mansell, said: “It is with regret our Ruislip shop is now closed for the foreseeable future, but we have to think about our customers, staff and volunteers health and safety at all times. Water has caused considerable damage to some of our stock and to the shop’s interior, including the ceiling, which came down onto the floor on Sunday morning.”

She added: “At this stage, we would like to invite our customers to consider shopping at our local Northwood or Eastcote charity shops during this time instead, and please ask them to take any unwanted clothing donations to these stores, as we cannot accept any donations at our Ruislip shop. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support of our Hospice.”
