Ruislip lady Ruth Heron will be running 13.1 miles through the City of London on Sunday 25th March in the London Landmarks Half Marathon event in memory of her Dad Ernie who was cared for at Michael Sobell Hospice (MSH) in Northwood.

Ruth will be raising money for MSH where her Dad was cared for in 2014. Even though it will be Ruth’s fifth half marathon – “it still won’t be easy”, explained Ruth.

Ruth who works at Harefield Library, which is just down the road from the Hospice said: “I’m raising money for the Hospice because the care that my Dad received there in his final two weeks was outstanding. Facing something like cancer is never easy, but when we look back at the time of Dad’s illness and trips in and out of hospital, the doctors at the Hospice offered such a sense of relief to us all. I want to raise money for this wonderful cause so that many others who are in a similar situation, both patients and their families, have somewhere compassionate and safe to go.”

MSHC needs to raise over £1.6 million pounds each year to ensure the continued funding of essential hospice care services, including a 16-bedded inpatient unit and day centre facility.
